Friday Favorites

I am so happy this week is over.  Make that these two weeks are over.  It has been pretty hectic in our household.
I am very thankful for the fact that my mom is finally on the road to recovery.  I can't tell you how frustrating it is to seek medical attention and be lead down the wrong path and left wondering in circles.  We finally sought out the right doctors and she is healing quickly.

My best friend is in town this week and having her here will be a welcomed distraction.  Nothing cures a bad day like time with your best friend to laugh and enjoy ones company.

Madeline is done with her academic camp.  I spoke with her teachers and she is doing great! She is reading is on tract and even a bit ahead of where she should be.  In math she is ahead almost a whole year!  (I wouldn't be a mom if I didn't brag a little.)

We have yet another busy weekend ahead but I must say it takes out the guess work of what I should do with the kids all weekend long.  It is so terribly hot out (today I heard it was going to be 98 degrees) that being at the park is almost impossible.

Jonathan is officially potty trained!! I can't thank the Lord enough for this one.  While it is still a heck of a lot of work since he hasn't mastered holding it for a long period of time so when he has to go-he HAS to go!  We are still using pull-ups at night just in case since he tends to not wake up at night but hey I'll take one pull up a day any time.

Finally next week we are heading off to our home away from home..Disney World.  I probably will be MIA again as of next week so I figured I get a jump start on the excitement.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Work Out Wednesday

My work outs have been basically nonexistent for the past week.  Unfortunately my mom as in the hospital and I would spend my afternoon/nights there with her.  Add to that my daughter's cheerleading schedule and it doesn't leave me much time for anything else.

Thankfully the other cheer moms like to work out as well and we either walk/jog while the girls practice and do some other little exercises.   For example this past weekend while we had four hours worth of stunt camp one of the moms had us doing squats.  She was doing one of those squat challenges and we all joined in.  Let me tell you a week off of working out and doing 225 squats off that bat will leave you very sore.

Monday I walked with one of the moms and did 240 squats (same mom and on her final day of the squat challenge.)  I also started an ab challenge of which I am on day three.  So she joined me on Monday and helped me add things to the workout since it is still in its easy stage.

Last night was the first time I was actually able to go to my gym.  I did bootcamp and it felt amazing.  We did a minute worth of ball slams with the medicine ball of your choice.  I grabbed a ten pound one since I had been gone for a week.  After a minute of ball slams we had to do sprints back and forth for 30 seconds.  In between each round was a ten second break.  We did that 15 times.  Not a bad way to get back into the game.  To bad tonight we have cheer and I wont be able to go.

Food wise I can't say to much except I probably am over doing on the portion control.  I probably should only have one side of sweet potatoes a week rather then two.

Lets hope I can get back to a better routine here shortly.  Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Thursday Trends: Bathing Suits galore

Tomorrow is the fourth and if Florida weather permits (and children) I will be near
a body of water with a drink in hand.  Which means I am in need of a bathing suit
that is red white and blue.  I'm pretty sure I have pieces that I can mix and
match but as with everything else I have a little problem with bathing suits.

Whenever Victoria's Secret has its semi-annual sale I stock up on pieces I can
mix and match.  Then of course there is target that always has a cute selection of
bathing suits.  They just happen to be right when I walk in so I can't help but
wonder over and look.

What I am in need of are some cute cover-ups and the one below doesn't
disappoint.  Add a cute pair of flip flops and I'm good to go tomorrow and
for the rest of the summer.

Workout Wednesdays

The past few weeks have sucked because I haven't been able to work out like I usually do.  Now that I am finally getting back into the swing of things Madeline's cheerleading schedule picks up.

Last week I was able to work out three times.  Kickboxing which is never actually easy really kicked my butt.  I also tried a boxing class which was a lot of fun.  It is exactly like my kickboxing but without the kicking.  I liked it a lot because it was all arms which is one of my problem areas.  Last night I was able to do a boot camp class which like last week whipped the floor with me.  At the end of it I laid on the concrete and it actually felt comfortable.  Last week was a repeat of a work out we have done before.  We ran one minute worth of sprints back and forth for ten minutes with a minute rest in between.  Then we deducted the amount of sprints from 200 and whatever number you were left with was how many burpees you had to do. I was left with 89!  Let me tell you after a week off from working out 89 burpees suck ass!

Last night we had to do suicides once that was completed 5 ball slams, and a burpee.  As if I wasn't still sore from kickboxing on Monday I am barely able to walk but it feels amazing.  Since cheer is starting again I happened to find a boot camp that is offered at the park where my daughter practices.  I am going to give them a call and see what it is all about and if its priced reasonable.  Hopefully it is something I can do instead.

Food wise I have been doing good.  Nothing crazy.  Although at Madeline's season kick off party I did enjoy some a lot of the spinach artichoke dip with pita chips.  I really need it out of my house ASAP.

Hope everyone is having a good Hump Day.  Its even better since this is a short week and there is only one day left of the work weeks.
