Weekend Round Up

Happy Monday everyone!  I can't believe tomorrow is already July.  I swear it was June first just the other day.  I am not ready for August.  August means the end of summer, the start of school, the start of school AND cheer simultaneously, my baby girl getting a year older, and loosing my hubby to law school.

This weekend was pretty crazy.  It was one of those weekends that I needed to have a least two of me. Friday was rather relaxing.  I went to grab dinner with one of my girlfriends at the Cheese Course.  If you haven't been it is a really nice place to go to grab a light bite and a yummy glass of wine.

Saturday I was up early, worked out, ran home to get the kids ready before I went to get my nails done.  I had planned on taking the kids to a local farm where you can pick strawberries.  Everyone was thrilled with this idea.  So we packed into the car and headed to the farm to only find out the farm is closed during the summer and wont open until September! Who would have thought.  I would think I farm would be open during the summer so that locals could have fresh fruit. We ended up running errands and going to lunch before all the afternoon storms hit.

(Ready for the World Cup and the fourth)

Sunday was a completely different story.  We had Jonathan's first soccer game and Madeline had her season kick off bash for cheer.   We signed him up with I9 Sports since I really wanted to see if he actually likes it before we sign him up a team with a longer season.  I got Jonathan all set up on the field (which thank god is actually an indoor gym) and then ran to drop off stuff for the party at the party site.  Ran back in time to watch his game for a bit and then headed back to the party.  The hubby was kind enough to get the cake for me at a Publix that was completely out of the way.  (I didn't think that one through)  Once at the party and all the set up was done I was actually able to enjoy myself.  Although I felt like every other second I was in the bathroom with Jonathan. Oh and did I mention we are potty-training too! Overall we had a great time and the weather cooperated with us.  We left the party around three-thirty and that is when the skies decided to open up.

It's Monday again but thankfully it is a short week.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Friday Favorites

I survived another work week! Always have to be grateful for that.

This week I am happy that I am finally out of pain!  Haven't really posted on Wednesdays about my workouts since I haven't been able to do much.  I finally got the go ahead from my new chiropractor to start working out again.  I am easing my way back in to my full schedule.

Like I said Monday I am officially done with school.  It is kinda crazy to think that I am completely done.  I'm used to taking a few weeks off and starting back up, but this is the real deal.  NO MORE SCHOOL.

My little man is starting soccer this weekend.  I can't wait to see him all decked out in his gear.  While I'm thrilled that he is finally able to play a sport and be active like his sister I am not thrilled to loose my one day to sleep in.  So is the life of a mom!

The hubby and I booked our hotel and finalized our plans for my friends wedding in Nashville.  I have never been and I am beyond excited to go.  If anyone has any recommendations to do while there I would love to hear.

This week was a big week for trip planning actually.  I caved in and booked a trip to Disney for next month.  I am not looking forward to that heat but when your kids sigh and say "I guess I'll watch this Disney movie because it reminds me of our family time in Disney" what else can you do.  I also booked my trip for second annual mom's weekend with my wonderful group of friends.  We go away to an all inclusive resort for the weekend.  Just us moms.  It is absolutely amazing and I am counting down the hours and minutes until then.

Hope everyone had a great week and an even better weekend.

Weekend Round Up

I have been MIA for a week. I wish I could say it was because I was off on a fabulous holiday vacation with no internet or cell phone service.  Unfortunately that was not the case.  Last Monday I woke up with one of the worse back spasm ever.  That lasted till  about Wednesday.  In between the pain I had to work on my presentation for my master's that I needed to present this past Saturday.  Finished that by the grace of God and Thursday as the day progressed I felt my body shutting down.  By the evening my entire body ache and my throat was on fire.  Friday wasn't much better and my boss actually sent me home because he said I have a fever.

Saturday I woke up bright and early still with a sore throat but no aches thankfully.  I dragged myself to my presentation.  I am officially done!!! I swear that was the cure because I started feeling better as the day went on.  Madeline had been invited to a friends house to hang out at the pool.  We went over and ended up staying the entire afternoon.  Jonathan had staid with my mom because with the older kids jumping I was nervous for my little dare devil to get in the way.  Since we ended up staying longer then expected I ran to get him and he played inside with all the toys.  They were all "new" to him so he was beyond thrilled playing with everything while the older kids swam.

Sunday I tried to sleep in but since Jonathan had gone to be earlier then usual he was up earlier then usual.  Knowing that soccer starts up next weekend and really ends my chances of ever sleeping in on a weekend I took my time getting out of the house. By the time we finally left the house it was lunch time.  We went to eat then went grocery shopping and to buy Madeline her supplies for camp that started today.  When we finished it was close to four o'clock and just in time for the afternoon thunderstorms to start.  While grocery shopping I bought the kids peanut M&Ms and told them we would have a "Movie Night".  After we got home I made them popcorn and had them pick a a movie each.

Now that I'm done with school I thought I would have all the free time in the world and then I remembered that I have two kids in two different sports and a husband about to go into law school.  Jonathan starts soccer Sunday and Madeline has her cheer kick off party of course on the same day.  I'm the cheer team mom so that is my latest project.  Is it December yet and I'll have a husband back for two weeks and I get vacation?

Hope everyone had a good first weekend of summer.

Friday Favorites

I cannot believe we are already done with the second week in June.  Ever since I have had kids the year just flies by and they get older by the second.  I was looking at Madeline the other day and I swear she grew a foot.

This Sunday is Father's Day and I am very thankful for the amazing husband I have who makes an amazing father!  Last night he surprised us and bought movie tickets to see How to Train Your Dragon 2.  The kids loved it and I must say I loved it too.  I liked it even more then the first one.

If you know me you know that I am attached to my phone.  If I am not attached to it the kids are.  Jonathan loves YouTube.  He goes on and looks at different dinosaur clips and toy reviews.  Thanks it YouTube he knows all the names of the various dinosaurs.  Last night though I left my phone at home while we went to dinner and the movies.  It was so nice to sit and eat with no one on a phone to talk and to just enjoys each others company.

I am beyond thrilled to say that I am down with school!!! After a bachelor's, a graduate certificate, and two master's I am done with school.  I finished my research paper and turned it in on Wednesday.  Next week I have to go to small conference to present it to current students.  I am not sure what I am going to do with my extra time.  Oh wait, I'm a mom, I'm sure the kids will find something to do to occupy my time.

My roommate from college turns 30 this weekend and we are all going out to celebrate.  (She actually introduced me to my hubby.)  One of our friends is flying in from New York to join in on the celebration.  It is so great when we can all get together and spend time together.  My hubby has known most of his friends since he was eight years old.  I lucked out that I got to know everyone before we even started dating and we are now just one big happy family.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with the ones they love and a Happy Father's Day.  This Father's Day I am also celebrating my mom.  She was my mom and my dad and I like to give her a special thank you for everything she has done for me.

Thursday Trends: Neon Neon and More Neon

If you know me you know that I'm a little obsessed with the neon trend.  So
obviously I needed to do a Thursday Trend all about my love for neon!

Last summer I think I had every neon color possible on my nails and I am so
happy to see it has stuck around.  I like that you can incorporate it in every aspect
of your life. From nails, accessories, clothes, even in your home decor neon colors
is everywhere.

Even better is that you can find something at every price point.  I'm obsessing
over that YSL clutch but that isn't happening any time in the near future for me.
One can only hope and dream.  In the mean time I will have to satisfy myself
with other items on my wish list below.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.  Its almost the weekend!

Neons all over.

Workout Wednesday

I am very proud of myself for even getting workouts in this past week.  One of my best friends came into town to celebrate her 30th which meant my usual Saturday workouts were out of the picture.  We staid at the beach all weekend long and I was dying to go running along the beach.  When my usual alarm went off on Saturday morning my body was up and ready to go.  I should have but instead I convinced myself that I never get to enjoy sleeping in.  I turned off my alarm and turned over.  Every now and then its find to skip a work out and let your body rest.

Friday although I didn't make it to my usual bootcamp I was lucky that my morning bootcamp class actually turned into a circuit/bootcamp/kickboxing class.  We incorporated kickboxing for three stations, abs for one, weights for two, and pushing of the darn bags for another.  After two minute rounds and we went through all stations our instructor switched up a few of the stations and we did it all over again.

Last night I wasn't able to do bootcamp either because I had a cheerleading committee meeting.  I am hoping to maybe take in an additional run this week to make up for it.  Other then missing my usual Saturday and Tuesday I did good and went to kickboxing the other days.

Food is a whole other story.  We went out Friday and Saturday night.  Drinks were definitely involved and lots of food.  Friday I was good and had chicken and a salad to make up for the drinks I knew I was going to have.  Saturday at lunch my hubby and I split an 84 ounce margarita.  Don't judge we were being cost effective.  Knowing I was drinking I had a salad with shrimp to off set the tons of calories in the drink.  Saturday night we went to Rocco's taco and after waiting two hours to be seated by the time the guacamole came I dove right in.  I ordered three small corn tacos with shrimp so that wasn't to bad.  The three margaritas probably weren't the best option.  But hey it was my friends birthday weekend and it was time to celebrate.

I've been trying to eat better throughout the week.  Monday I made "healthy" version of mac and cheese.  I got it from Bethanny Frankel's show.  It called for one cup soy milk, but I only had 2% so I used that, instead of a ton of cream you substituted butternut squash to help thicken it, then three different low fat cheeses.  Throw it over whole wheat pasta and you are set. Tonight we made turkey chili.

Friday Favorites

Yay it's Friday and I couldn't be happier.  With it being the end of the school year and me as home room mom I have been running around a bit.  At work I have been having to do some tedious project that I finished which means I can start the week off fresh and renewed.  Overall I am just happy it is the weekend.

So first and for most I am thankful for the weekend.  I am pretty sure I say this every weekend but hey we have to be thankful for the small things.

I wasn't feeling very good this morning but I got up took Madeline to her last day of 1st grade and then went to kickboxing.  I walked in and it turned out they turned class into a circuit class.  Yay for my goal to build muscles boo for how I was feeling.  After that I went to my chiropractor and got a message and it did wonders.  I am feeling much better and ready for the weekend to start.

It is officially summer vacation.  Madeline had her last day of school today.  It is very bitter sweet.  One the bright side I can sleep in another thirty minutes and there isn't any school traffic.  On the other side it means my baby girl is growing up.  I may or may not have cried when I saw her completion of first grade certificate.

The kids are off to spend the weekend with the in-laws so that the hubby and I can go stay at the beach to celebrate on of my besties' 30th birthday.  While I miss them terribly even if its only a day that I don't see them it is very nice to spend some quality time with the hubby.  Especially since come August this quality time will be very far and few between.

Hope everyone has a wonderful first weekend of summer break.  I shall post my shenanigans from the weekend Monday.

Wednesday Workouts

I have been horrible this week with my posts.  It is the end of the year and as home room mom and as a mom in general I have been running around like crazy.  On the bright side I am thrilled for the month of June to be here.  I am finally able to get back into my old workout routine.  Last week my Madeline's cheer ended for a month which meant I was able to go to my Tuesday boot camp.  I'm excited now that I got through the hell which some call a workout.

Tuesday night we had to run 800 meters in under a minute.  No problem if you didn't just have to complete five minutes worth of 30 ball slams, 30 jump squats, 30 push ups, and 30 kettle bell swings with a 25 pound kettle bell.  If you did not complete the run in under a minute you had to add 20 burpees to the end of the workout.  I feel great that I was able to complete the run in under a minute so no extra burpees.  However, right when we thought it was safe to go home the instructor informed us that we had to do 100 wall slams.  The good thing to all that torture was when I was leaving someone said they noticed that I was looking stronger!

Last Friday our boot camp consisted of four stations.  Each station lasted six minutes, alternating a minute of  of the work out and a minute of jumping jacks or jump rope.  The stations consisted of ball slams while jumping side to side, kettle bell swings, push-ups using a ten pound weight, bicep curls with 15 pound weights, and pushing the sand bags.  Technically we were supposed to pull the sand bags but my wrists were killing me.  It felt like they were going to dislocate themselves.  The instructor suggested pushing instead and said because I broke my wrist when I was younger that was probably why I was in so much pain.

What I love about all these workouts is that you really could do them at home and modify them to your level of fitness.  I post so much details for that reason.

Food wise I really didn't do to much out of the ordinary.  Saturday night we went to a local restaurant called Tap 42.  They are known for their amazing burgers and variety of beers.  If you live in South Florida definitely check it out.  Since I am not a burger eater I got the turkey burger without a bun and had them put on the toppings from another burger.  Instead of fries I had them give me a side of Brussels sprouts which while I'm sure weren't steamed I figured they were still healthier then fries.  Sunday was my Madeline's piano recital and we went to a Mexican restaurant after for lunch.  I got two corn taco's with shrimp which were amazing and not horribly unhealthy either.

We definitely eat out A LOT but I always try to make healthy choices when we do.  I tend to stick with salads with balsamic dressing but every now and then like this weekend I venture off and enjoy myself.  Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.
